Michelangelo himself (1475-1564) was a prolific artist whose masterpieces are evidence of the Renaissance artists renewed interest in Classical Greek sculpture, Humanism, and Neo-Platonism. Here Michelangelo is shown working on an unfinished work. It is said that Michelangelo worked on his sculptures from front to back, as opposed to working around the sculpture.
